The E3N-Generations study aims to extend the E3N study by following the descendants of women who participated in the E3N study. The objective is to better understand the onset of major diseases, from genetics, family environment and the environment outside the family. As well as gathering a large amount of prospective epidemiological data, E3N-Generations cohort permit the collection of important information concerning phenotypes and genetics. The E3N-Generations family study aims to examine health in relation to modern lifestyles among members of the same family across three generations. The E3N-Generations study builds on the E3N study by following the family members of the women who participated in the E3N cohort: the fathers of their children, their children, and their grandchildren. Its main responsibilities include validating strategic directions, monitoring the cohort’s progress and its budgetary status; approving budget management, financial statements, and annual activity reports; establishing the procedures for evaluating the cohort and deciding on its potential termination or extension; and adopting a Charter governing access to the cohort’s data and samples. The Scientific Advisory Board, composed of international experts, ensures the relevance and scientific quality of research conducted using the cohort’s data and samples; it fosters collaborations by identifying expertise and know-how; and it provides an opinion on the Data Access Charter. Validation of medical conditions by a team of Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs) who rely on participants' medical records to verify the reported medical conditions. For G2: Raw data is collected via the web-based questionnaire platform (developed by Gide) and hosted on servers certified for hosting health data. The data generated is then stored, as with G1, on secure, HDS-certified servers at Gustave Roussy.
