The objectives of the Sentinelle Network, defined when it was set up in 1994, were as follows: - to monitor perinatal health indicators (recruitment, practices and results) year after year, by pooling data from the files of maternity units participating in the Network; - provide maternity units with a tool for assessing their practices and results, by comparing the results of analyses carried out on their own files with those of the Sentinelle Network (benchmarking) ; - conduct epidemiological studies based on the database ; - set up multicenter studies, at the request of one or more Network members.
