The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between anxiety, depression and pain assessment difficulties in 40 children with sickle cell disease at the start of hospitalization. The hypotheses were that children described as "difficult to assess" are significantly more anxious or depressed than others during the vaso-occlusive crisis or in the basal state.
