This makes it possible to conduct many analyses covering equity in the health system and to enlighten public efforts by participating in the evaluation of public policies, whether directly or indirectly linked to health. ESPS is as such a reactive tool for researchers in the social sciences, making it possible to test new research hypotheses on French data. ESPS is also an information tool for public health. It makes it possible to assess in an exploratory manner the prevalences of affections in the absence of specific instruments and complete sources, and this using detailed data on morbidity. ESPS thus comprises a unique source of data on supplemental health insurance in France.
